I let the Justice sign my name because I was afraid of getting ink on my gloves and he wrote my name Bessie instead of Tressie. Could this be made right?1

"Davenport, Mrs. Tressie E., Birch Run, Michigan. Passed away Monday, April 16, 1984, at Frankenmuth Convalescent Center. Age 96 years. Tressie E. Hall was born March 24, 1888, in West Virginia. She married Ernest Davenport on Aug. 16, 1908. He predeceased her in 1977. She was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (CLARA) Taylor, Holly; Mrs. Earl (Ruby) Rambo, Edith Davenport, and Mrs. Bernard (Erma) Bosley, all of Birch Run; two sons, Cecil and Melvin (Buster) Davenport. A daughter and a granddaughter predeceased her. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Case Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Elder Wilbur Woodhams will officiate with burial in Cook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Seventh-day Adventist Church."

Deed*James bought property at Swift Creek, Pitt County, North Carolina, on 04/17/1787. James Handcock paid him 50 pounds for this tract of land. It was described as containing 100 acres, more or less, and being on the "West Side of the West Prong of Swift Creek" and being a part of a 200 acres land grant John received on May 5, 1778. Dennis Cannon and Solomon Sutton were witnesses to this deed. This deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville, North Carolina in Deed Book M, Page 18-19.
