Milit-Beg*William served in the military at Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina, on 09/17/1778. William volunteered to join the Revolutionary War Army in Kinston, NC at age of sixteen years and ten months on September 17, 1778. The army was lead by General Samuel Ashe, who later became the Governor of North Carolina. After serving in the American Revolutionary Army, William drew a pension in 1831 for the service to his country (voucher #484 Pension Roll, page 821). The first payment of the pension was $120 for the arrears due William and semi-annual payments of $20 followed, starting March 4, 1836.
