This child is Edward Cannon II who died in Beaufort Co., NC, 1729. Since this was the first court term of the year 1753, we can place Edward II's birth in 1752.

Thomas Allen and Edward Cannon were business partners. Thomas Allen may have been a sea captain and Edward Cannon a merchant. In 1651 Isaac Worgan witnessed a deed for Andrew Warner to Allen & Cannon. "Sarah, a maidservant" may have been the same maidservant he later married..3

Deed*John sold property at Swift Creek, Pitt County, North Carolina, on 03/22/1851. There were two deeds executed on March 22, 1851. The first deed was for the sale of John Cannon's estate to his brother Thomas Cannon and the second deed is where all of the parties below agreed to give up their rights to the land as heirs for a share of the proceeds. The estate was located on the northeast side of Swift Creek near what is today Ayden, North Carolina. This land adjoined Thomas Cox and Joseph Cox's land and sold for $266. This deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville North Carolina in Deed Book NN. Page 22.

     The following individuals were heirs and parties to selling John's land to his brother, Thomas Cannon: Hillery Cannon, his sister; Catherine Slaughter, his sister; Benjamin Tripp and wife Sarah, his sister; Caleb Cannon, his brother; Robert Worthington and wife Mary, his niece; William Hart and wife Mary, his niece; Henry Cannon, his brother; John C. Cox, his great nephew; and Warren Braxton and wife Sarah, his great niece.
