He had genetic testing completed through the 12 Marker Test (Y-DNA12). This test is the world standard to verify the Y chromosome for genetic matches between males. Among individuals with identical results their Most Recent Common Ancestor (MCRA) has the probability of occurring in the following timeframes: within 7 generations, 50% likelihood; within 23 generations, 90% likelihood; within 29 generations, 95% likelihood. My results indicate that I am in the Haplogroup: R1b1b2. A Haplogroup is a genetic population group associated with early human migrations and which can today be associated with a geographic region. It is important to note that even though female and male haplogroups may have the same letters, their definitions are different. Haplogroup R1b is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial age 10-12 thousand years ago. This lineage is also the haplogroup containing the Atlantic modal haplotype indicating ancestor most likely from England. Kenny's genetic testing was performed by Family Tree DNA on 05/22/2008.¹¹

Travel*

Leon and his family traveled to Ayden, Pitt County, North Carolina, from his home in Australia on 05/15/1998 to meet his father's family. This trip came about as the result of a letter he wrote on August 15, 1997 to all of the Braxton's Lee could locate in the Ayden, North Carolina area. By mailing this letter, he embarked on an odyssey to discover who his father was and what family he might have in the United States. One of his letters was received by Heber Guy Braxton who immediately knew he was related to Lee and how they were related. Lee was the son of Leon D. Braxton who was the brother of Guy's father, Heber Warren Braxton. Guy contacted Lee letting him know he had found his family. After several correspondences with Guy and Shirley Dennis, Lee and his wife Jenny and one of their daughters journeyed to North Carolina, from Australia, arriving in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 15, 1998. At last, Lee was able to meet the other half of his family. One of the most memorable events was a "pig pick-in" and Braxton Family reunion that Guy held at his home in Ayden, North Carolina. In one afternoon, Lee was able to meet most of the surviving Braxton's and a good time was had by all.

Lee's grandfather was a scenic artist and painted all of the stage sets for a very famous Australian theatre company. When Lee and his family was visiting with Jimmy Braxton, Jimmy showed them a little watercolor painting of the old Braxton family home place. Jimmy did not know who had painted it or where it had come from. Lee immediately recognized the work as being a painting that his grandfather had done. Lee's grandfather had painted it from a small photo that his father Poss had carried with him during the war of his mother, Mammy, standing in front of the house. In one of Mammy's letters to Lee's Mum, she thanked her for the watercolor, at last Lee knew what she meant.

Levi bought property at Swift Creek, Pitt County, North Carolina, on 07/25/1796. John Braxton sold 100 acres, more or less, for 50 pounds to Levi Braxton. In this deed, the land is described as lying on the "South Side of the West Prong of Swift Creek". This is part of a 200 acres land grant John Braxton received on May 4, 1778 and the land at that time was described as being "on South Side of the West Prong of Swift Creek". This deed was witnessed by Hardee Handcock and John Braxton. The deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville, North Carolina in Deed Book N, Page 360-361. It is believed that Levi Braxton was a son of John Braxton 1^st.
