Leroy and several other heirs petitioned the Clerk of the Superior Court of Pitt County North Carolina on November 24, 1941 to approve the division and sale of Edwards' land.

The court issued a ruling to sale Edward's estate and divide the proceed among the heirs. The court determined the heirs and shares of his estate. The estate was comprised of three tracts of land.

This tract was comprised by 55 acres in Chocowinity Township, on the south side of the Washington and New Bern road five miles from Washington, NC. The land was sold at public action and was purchased by John M. Warner for $155.
