Deed*He bought property at Swift Creek, Pitt County, North Carolina, on 04/24/1852. Benjamin Tripp the uncle of Warren's wife, Sarah Cox Braxton, purchased 237 acres for $330 from Warren and Sarah. This tract of land was on the south side of Swift Creek Swamp on Cedar Swamp and it was a part of the Moses Harrington land. The deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville, North Carolina in Book L4, Page 331-332. The deed reads as follows:

"....adjoining the lands of Joab Harrington & others, Begining at a Black Gum on Cedar Swamp near an Ash said Warren Braxton's corner & runs up the run of Cedar Swamp to some Bayo said Tripp Corner thence with his trail up slash to pine pond, thence on the edge of said pond to a black gum, thence South 10 degrees West 90 pole to the head of another slash, thence with that slash to a Large poplar on the side of Swift Creek Swamp then up the edge of said swamp to a Cypress in Joab Harrington line then north 30 degrees east so the begining and another piece in swift creek swamp, begining a sweet gum on the same side of the swamp and runs west across the swamp seventy two poles to another gum in his mouth of Persimmon Branch there east 70 pole across the swamp then down the edge the swamp to the begining. Both tracts containing two hundred thirty seventh acres more or less...."

Census 1860 - free* On 08/31/1860,Benjamin was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census at Pitt County, North Carolina. Benjamin's was age 66 and his wife, Duty, was age 65. They had the following children living at home; Nicey, age 35; John, age 21; Caleb, age 19.

Benjamin and daughter, Nicey, were recorded as not being able to read or write. His wife, Duty, could read and write. Benjamin was a farmer who owned his own farm and his real estate was valued at at $1,000 and his personal estate was valued at $4,500. His son's John and Caleb were farm hands.

Deed*Caleb bought property at Pitt County, North Carolina, on 08/31/1870. Acting as an executor of the estate, Warren and his wife, Sarah Cox Braxton, sold 93 acres to Caleb Tripp for $31. This tract of land was from the Moses Herrington estate and was located on the East and West Side of Swift Creek. The deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville, North Carolina in Deed Book L4, Page 342-343. Other grantors associated with this transaction were Nicy Tripp, Jesse Hart, Jemina Hart and his wife, William Smith and his wife Mary Smith. Caleb Tripp and Jesse Hart were most likely Sarah Cox Braxton's first cousin once removed and the other individuals were also most likely related to Sarah.
