The deed for this tract of land is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse in Greenville, North Carolina in Deed Book NN, Page 297-298 and was described as follows:

".....the south side of Swift Creek adjoining the lands of John Smith, Allen Smith, and Major Smith and bounded as follows begining at a water oak in the swamp side and thence north sixty degrees west one hundred and ten poles to a red oak in the patent line thence north thirty degrees East and hundred and ten poles to a holly, thence south sixty degrees East one hundred and Ten poles by a line of marked trees......to a holly in or near the back line thence south thirty degrees west one hundred and ten poles to the begining...."

The deed was witnessed by Titus Jotart and John C. Cox, the brother of Warren's wife, Sarah Cox Braxton.

Deed*(?) Spring Branch Free Will Baptist Church bought property at Pitt County, North Carolina, on 05/24/1890. The Spring Branch Free Will Baptist Church, which was later moved into Ayden and became the Ayden Free Will Baptist Church, was organized on Skilton's land. In 1890, he and his wife Patsy gave land to the church. If at some time in the future the land was no longer used as a church, ownership returned to Skilton and Patsy.

We know from an interview that Kenny Braxton had with Odell McGlowhorn in 2001, that this original site adjoins the Northeast Side of the Dennis Family Cemetery in Ayden, NC.

This deed is recorded at the Pitt County Courthouse, Greenville, NC in Book E-5, Page 356.
